Question Shortcut command to start terminal?

    Hi there,

is there a way that I can start a terminal window (in GUI ofcourse) with a shortcut. And it should have to be one that can be used in all programs too so that I don't have to switch and that I can easily start a terminal window to do some quick editing.

Yup. You can just set a shortcut from System->Preferences->Keyboard Shortcuts (or whatever it's called - I'm running in danish). I have mine set to Alt-F3.

System -> Preferences -> Keyboard Shorcuts

There is an entry in there for "Run a terminal".

Another solution, which I use, is to add the terminal to the top panel in GNOME. That way, it's always available. To do this, Applications > Accessories and RIGHT-CLICK on Terminal. From the menu, select Add this launcher to panel.

You can them move the launcher to a good place on the panel.

    Hope this helps,

What they said for keyboard shortcuts. If you mean a regular shortcut then you can create a launcher and call it "Terminal" and start it with
    Code:
    gnome-terminal
but I think you meant what they said

he was just telling you what the actually launcher command would be to start the terminal, in case thats what you were asking... you were sort of vague with the start a terminal with a shortcut question
