    trackerd hogging cpu on Jaunty

I've looked online for help on old posts, but nothing I find seems to fix the problem. It appears that trackerd is permanently useing 40%-50% of my laptops cpu (intel core2 duo with 4GB DDR2). I understand it is indexing items, but it makes my system clunky when I am trying to do work, and disabling or pausing doesn't appear to make a difference.

I have been doing this by going to: system > preferences > search and indexing

    Then deselecting enable indexing.

Any suggestions on fixing this would be appreciated.

    Thankyou,

Prevent it from starting or uninstall it altogether? http://www.ubuntumini.com/2008/12/sp...your-hard.html

Thankyou, I have gone in and disabled trackerd now, and after a reboot, all is running a LOT smoother. I thought my laptop was powerful enough to handle it all a bit better, but apparently not.

    Thankyou Temüjin,
