    Red face Skype-3.0.0.93 beta ????

    Hi everybody,

I've received an RSS new from downloadsquad.com regarding SLAX that shows a new beta of Skype (Skype-3.0.0.93 beta)

Has someone more info about this?

    Regards

There's MID 3.x beta for linux - as far as I know it's the same under the hood (no pulseaudio support), just the interface is different. Go ahead and try MID version

Does this beta of Skype work with 9.04?

I've been wrestling with Skype with sound on Ubuntu and Xubuntu for months...8.4,8.10 9.4 and even with Ubuntu Studio. I've used onboard Intel audio cards, USB Creative Audio, CMI sound card. As well have tried Alsa, OSS, and PulseAudio.

I've worked several blog space recipies for making Skype microphone work and all have failed. I drop the issue for awhile and just resort to loading Windows to use Skype, which works with all the above sound cards, but finding an Ubuntu flavour that works with Skype evades me on any of my hardware.

Today I'm downloading Mepis/Linux distro to see if I've any better luck with it as well will try this beta deb.

your "OSS" is ALSA emulation of OSS

    https://help.ubuntu.com/community/OpenSound

Skype works well with the true OSS,
but not all hardware is supported
