G'day,
With my Lenovo 3000 G530 4446-25M notebook I am struggling to get the inbuilt webcam to work in Ubuntu 9.04. All my research on the web so far did not lead to any success. I have tried to set it up with EsayCam2 and run it with Ekiga and Cheese. All I get is error messages or the "bouncing ball". EasyCam2 just terminates the set-up with no effect (and it does not give me any useful error message either). I am using the "qt" version of EasyCam2.
From searching various forums I have retrieved the following information about my system:
Code:
~$ lsusb
...
Bus 002 Device 003: ID 5986:0205 Acer, Inc
...
~$ dmesg | grep uvc
[ 10.186065] uvcvideo: Found UVC 1.00 device Lenovo EasyCamera (5986:0205)
[ 10.188110] usbcore: registered new interface driver uvcvideo
[ 537.431659] uvcvideo: Failed to query (130) UVC control 1 (unit 0) : 2 (exp. 26).
~$
Also, according to this source (http://linux-uvc.berlios.de/) the webcam, being a UVC device, should work without having to install any UVC kernel driver (which is included in Linux 2.6.26 and newer, and Jaunty comes with 2.6.28-11 generic).
The camera works under XP.
Is there anyone with the same notebook or webcam model who managed to bring it to life? Any help is highly appreciated.
