I use rox, it's fast, and lightweight:
Then you will need to update your right-click menu to show all installed apps. This can be done using fluxconf:Code:sudo apt-get install rox-filer
Then use fluxmenu to add/remove apps(ROX) to your right-click menu:Code:sudo apt-get install fluxconf
Code:flexmenu
anyone else can't get amsn icon on the desktopbar?
Hmm... I'm getting the "...less than 10 seconds..." error for some reason. I tried to restart fluxbox, and I was kicked out to the gdm. Now I keep getting that error whenever I try to log in. I tried changing the ownership of ICEauthority, but that doesn't help. I tried the 'startfluxbox' idea and that doesn't work either. I can log into Gnome no problem... What's going on here?
So I compiled and installed fluxbox. After installing rox-filer if I somehow wiped out my fluxmenu file, and trying to edit it via "fluxmenu" gives me gtk errors, specifically:
Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_tree_store_append: assertion `VALID_ITER ( parent, tree_store)' failed
I'd rather not have to remove and reinstall flux, any ideas?
I tried uninstalling Rox, no go.
Note: The menu is completely wiped out. Even the defaults "xterm" don't work. Of course I have eterm installed. Restart and Shutdown still work oddly. My menu file is blank though.
According to the init file I'm loading from ~/.fluxbox/menu
Is there another menu I set up somewhere?
Edit: A flux-generate_menu command fixes the problem of a wiped out menu, however the GUI menu editor fluxmenu still isn't working. When I'm back at my laptop I'll try removing and reinstalling fluxmenu. I have the feeling it may be a dependency problem.
