Hi there!

I have a problem dual booting Win7 and Ubuntu 10.04 on my 3810T.

The usual procedure is installing Windows, installing Ubuntu by resizing the partition, and Grub works without any problem.

This doesn't work on the 3810T.

When I try the same thing on my Eee PC 1000H, it works flawlessly.

And the really strange thing: When I install Win7 and Ubuntu 9.10, dual boot also works.

So the problem only occurs on the 3810T, and only with 10.04.

Even installing JUST 10.04 without dual booting doesn't result in a proper bootloader.

When just 10.04, or both Win7 and 10.04 are installed, and I tell my notebook to boot from a USB drive containing 10.04, it starts the GRUB on the hard disk. So the USB drive works like a kickstarter for the GRUB installed on the HDD.

So, when I say boot USB with dual boot, it shows me the GRUB menu, and when I do the same thing with only 10.04 installed, it boots the Ubuntu on the HDD.

Anyone else having this problem?

At the moment, I'm running Win7 and 9.10, and everything just works.

My guess: An AHCI/IDE problem?
