it's look like in bios 1.20, acer silently enabled virtualization
Can anyone confirm that the official Acer BIOS from 1.20 onwards enable hardware virtualization?

I have tried BIOS 1.20 and 1.24 and don't seem to be getting hardware virtualization at all.

    Re: Acer Timeline 3810T

OK, I am definitely running BIOS 1.24.

I have just run a little piece of code from here:

    http://www.linux-kvm.org/page/Enable...8Early_2008%29

and it is telling me that VT-X is disabled and locked in the BIOS.

Does anybody know why I am getting a different result from other people, who claim to have virtualization set in the BIOS from 1.20 onwards?

Has anyone here got Sleep combination working? I mean Fn+F2? Is there any manual about configuring such hotkeys?

I believe it is related to the mapped keyboard you chose.
Here, I use everyday the fn+F4 to suspend my laptop and it works perfectly.

Have a look in System --> Preferences --> Keyboard for further keyboard details.

Suspend doesn't work on my 4810TG when I close the lid. The screen goes black, but the led-lights still work, and the notebook consumes much power and is very warm.

I have checked all the settings in Power Management are OK.

does suspend mode work if you use fn+F4 keys?

Here, in Power Management Preferences, I set "Suspend" action when closing lid, on both AC & Battery power tabs.
I guess you followed the advice to activate suspend mode right?

    sudo gedit /etc/default/grub

    edit the line as follows:
    GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="i8042.reset=1"

REM: You can also edit the GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="i8042.reset=1 quiet splash" line, but it will only change the default boot option and not the recovery and old kernel options in the grub menu.

Do either one of these 2, not both together.

    save edited file, and then:

    sudo update-grub

    And reboot

Thank you for the answer. Yeah when I pressed Fn+F4 suspend worked OK. The problem is that it does work when I close the lid sometimes too, but most of times doesn't

    Re: Acer Timeline 3810T

seems weird... I believe it might be related to a process you sometimes run, sometimes don't, and can affect the suspend...

    have you tried this:
close the lid, the suspend does not work (screen goes black, but the led-lights still work), then press fn+F4? in this case, suspend does work or not?

In my case, I use 99% of the time the fn+F4 keys combination to suspend my laptop, but when I try in closing the lid, until now, it works too.

I'm not really helpful here, but I hope some other people will see your message and bring you complementary answers, maybe with a solution

I want to try arch in this laptop but I haven't been able to install it. I tried using unetbootin to put the arch installer in a usb drive, but after doing it I can't boot (it says something like "cannot find linux image"). I had tried this before with the same result... Has anyone been able to install arch? Any suggestions?
