I plug my external hdd drive into my usb port but it doesn't show on my desktop. How do I fix this. I am using a seagate 500gb which used to show on my desktop. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

if its an NTFS formatted drive:

your usb port may not provide enough power for it to run, try using the power supply with your drive.
