Talking Ubuntu and Mac 10.5 Dual Boot on Powerpc?

Ok... so I've tried Ubuntu way back when it was 7.04. I thought it was awesome, but the computer I had it on crashed. Darn! So, I've decided to try Ubuntu again, and I've heard that 9.04 will be great. The only thing is that I want to dual boot mac and ubuntu, both operating systems that I love. In the past I have tried to do this and all my data got lost somehow. The mac partition wasn't bootable. So, here's what I wanna see is possible:

Have two partitions in mac. I only have one, so I dunno if it's possible to make another one without losing data.

Install ubuntu on one of the partitions without destroying the data in the other partition.

    That's it!

    Thank you!

OS X 10.5 will allow you to modify/create/delete partitions from the disk utilities application.

Also, which processor does your machine have PPC or Intel?

If it is a PPC then you'll need to go here:

It says 'Invalid ROM Contents' upon boot of live disk. Any help?

Try the alternate installer disk, I have to use it on my Powremac G5.

    It's not too user-unfriendly, so don't worry.
