    iPod not formatted by Rythmbox

My iPod won't format in Rythmbox. I've tried instaling iTunes under Wine but the install for iTunes failed and it only installed Quicktime. Is there a way to synchronize an iPod to Rythmbox?

im not sure about ipods in rythmbox but if your looking for something that is as close to itunes when it comes to managing your music collection you may want to give song bird a look.

I also use rhythmbox and iPod. This is a Rhythmbox limitation so to "format" I usually delete all folders from iPod (everything really) then restart the iPod and have the initial folders created by it when booting. Not I only need to create the database for it using banshee, they have the option. I don't like banshee but use it just for this issue and it's not that often so no problems at all...

    Try Banshee,Gtkpod or Songbird.

Have a look at this thread... http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1049803
I've been running into problems, too.
Gtkpod at converts files, if you have the lame package installed. That worked for me. No cover art, but at least it can put the music on.
Songbird is also a suggestion... I haven't gotten it to work, though.
