Intrepid: Issues with Audigy 2 Line In

Hi, for some reason line in on my Audigy 2 soundcard suddenly stopped working. Line in continues to work fine on Windows XP, and I still get sound from applications in Ubuntu. I have tried the suggestion at http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=232431 and set Analog Mix to maximum, and checked that the Analog/Digital Output jack was unchecked. I have also checked all the possible visible tracks in Volume Control and unmuted/set to max each one. Can someone help me address this issue?

Hm, as a follow up, the Analog Mix Capture slider seems to be stuck at zero; if I move it up, close Volume Control, and open Volume Control again the volume remains at zero. This happens also when I try to adjust the volume using asoundconf and amixer.
