    Re: Jaunty 9.04 Sound Solutions

Ok, stop pulseaudio and run it from a terminal so we can see what is going on

    killall pulseaudio

    pulseaudio -vvv

Most likely what we want to see is as pulse starts up. It should be finding alsa sinks and sources, those are the messages we need to see.

You can also try reinstalling pulseaudio. That might fix whatever weirdness is going on.

Remove or rename the /home/jpconley/.pulse directory and restart pulse. That directory is left over from before the upgrade and the files are most likely wrong and are not necessary for pulse to run.

I'm not sure I understand the question. Nothing plays (not system sounds, MP3's or sound in FF.

Sorry to be such a noob. Okay, aplay, a command line audio player. I tried it with an MP3, no sound, but here is what I got at the command line:

Playing raw data '/home/jpconley/9-archive/Prime.mp3' : Unsigned 8 bit, Rate 8000 Hz, Mono
    ^CAborted by signal Interrupt...

Okay, did it. I have a lot of data. I don't have the expertise to detect what might be wrong. Nothing is obiously an error to me:
