Ubuntu 9.10 OpenVZ VPS - Starting at $5/month

I was googling around for a decent VPS deal and ended up on the ubuntuforums.. Thanks for this, absolutely perfect.

So are a lot of people satisfied with fivebean? I haven't quite outgrown my shared hosting, but for the price it's a lot better.

Right now I use CirtexHosting and I pay around $47.00 per year. The biggest things are DNS control file limit. While I haven't hit my 5GB yet, I'm getting close to the "Number of Files" limit (and I'm planning on setting up forum hosting so that number will really limit me.) I do have a home server so I do know how to setup and manage an Ubuntu system no problem.

For $5.00 per month, it almost seems worth buying. Only thing that bothers me is the fact that it's priced so low compared to other VPS hosting sites. Anyone have good/bad reviews for this?

I was feeling adventerous, so I ordered the mini vps. Hope this works out well, it was a good deal

EDIT: Ok, I got it all setup, and I must say, I'm quite impressed. It was extremely easy to setup, and the price is great, and the speeds are fast. I'd recommend to you guys to try it, it's so cheap you don't really have much to lose.

well, I tried them but frankly the experience was a waste of time.

- logging in by ssh was a repeat timeout .. 3 hours later I got in

- loggin in by their shell was a timeout, although I see that's in dev.

When I did get in, I tried testing my spanky new LEMP stackscript and the server choked. Script works fine with other VPS hosts.

.. but in fairness, that was with the cheap-o Bean account. Still, I mean .. you get what you pay for. ( .. may as well stay shared, strikes me)

.. oh and folks on mny forum at vpsBible.com are saying the same, BTW

- one guy repeat-installed and couldn't get past MySQL, with that for some reason eating all his RAM

- another guy said it was just like watching paint dry.

Sorry .. but I think a dose of reality.
