    Thunderbird profile import

    12.04LTS

Have Thunderbird working on wife's account. Need to import her tons of old Outlook email and addresses. So booted to WXP, installed TBIRD, ran the import from outlook, all the stuff came in - all (gasp) 1.3G of it. Copied the profile over to the Linux side. When I open TBird under Linux, and go to TOOLS, IMPORT, the import wizard pops up and asks "Import [lots of words] from:" and the from is blank, no browse, no nuthin. Shouldnt I get a browse button or a file path dialog to get to the profile?

    Am I doing this wrong?

    Re: Thunderbird profile import

I shared my profile in a NTFS data partition with XP and several Ubuntu installs. I also copy profile to my laptop and originally had it sharing the profile when traveling.

I start Thunderbird once to create a default profile. Then copy my profile into the .thunderbird and edit profile.ini with my profiles name.

I also do exactly the same thing with Firefox profile.

    Re: Thunderbird profile import

These all *seem* to point to replacing a profile. My problem is, I have Tbird setup and working, and some email in the inbox that the boss wants to keep. Now she also has a profile created on a windows instance of Tbird which was imported from Outlook, and she wants that brought into the Tbird profile which already has a small amount of mail. So I guess what I need is to be able to import from a Tbird profile copied from Windows to an existing tbird profile on Linux. Suggestions?
