NVIDIA issues/video issues

Ok, so I've been using Intrepid since December. Everything is running pretty well, except for the NVIDIA accelerated graphics driver (version 177). When I don't have it activated, my FPS is about 150 at most (which sucks for games like Warzone 2100 or Warsow), but videos play correctly. When I have it activated, my FPS is at around 6000 to 7000 (which makes gaming very smooth), but videos are really weird. By weird, I mean human skin shows up blue or violet and everything else is orange. I could just switch from it being active and inactive, but that's a real pain in the rear. I don't want to have to choose between videos and games, because I'll probably choose games. Also, I'm using a dell xps m1530.

Have you tried Envy? This replaces your NVIDIA driver with a more friendly one. I know you're using Intrepid, but the last version is for Hardy. I think the most it could do to your computer is seriously inconvenience you, and force you to reinstall the NVIDIA driver you already had, but if it works, it will most likely save you plenty of inevitable frustration.

I had those weird colours using Totem movie player. Try this with Totem:

Edit/Preferences/ click the Display tab.

Turn the Hue all the way down to zero.

It's a workaround.
