    IRC client other than Pidgin...

Thanks all for your help. I got it up and running.

I have an issue with Pidgin and cant seem to fix it even with a friend that knows Linux well...is there any other IRC programs i can use ..that is easy for a NOOB to install? I looked at X-Chat but could not get the install commands correct.

    Thanks

You don't need any commands to install x-chat. Just use Synaptic or the Add/Remove-tool in the applications menu.

(If you still want to do it with a command, "sudo apt-get install xchat")

X-chat is good but if you dont end up liking that then i suggest aMSN. Its the probably one of the more user friendly ones to use and is basically an MSN port to Ubuntu.

EDIT: aMSN is also installable through the add/remove applications.

aMsn would be good if the OP was looking for an msn-equivalent program, but the poster expressly asked for an IRC client.
