    gedit and hidden files

When using gedit and clicking "open" file to get to the file browser, all files and directories show, including hidden (starting with '.' and ending with '~'. Is there a config file (I have not been able to locate...) that controls the file browser behaviour from inside gedit? In Nautilus, there is of course a drop-down menu option to switch on or off showing hidden files.

    Thanks

    Press Ctrl+H

    That should do the trick

Yes, Ctrl-H works the same in Gedit as in Nautilus. While the file open dialog is open, Ctrl-H toggles showing hidden files.
