LTS server or desktop EOL

This is a curiosity more than anything...

6.06 Dapper Drake Desktop is EOL in June. Server support goes on to June 2011.

My question is: Everything comes from the same pool... How is it decided if package X is server or desktop software. I haven't found any documentation that outlines that determination.

I would be interested in this too as I have not seen an official package list.

I think it would be safe to assume anything related to X is unsupported.

I have wondered this as well, but always assumed the packages included on the server install CD, which I assume are all the packages related to the configuration options available during installation, were the only ones supported during that time.
