Anyone know of any Ubuntu mirrors physically on Hawaii? Seems kinda silly not to have one (if that is indeed the case...) given the geographic distance from, well... everything. with aloha, ~yaskota
Hi yaskota. If you go here, and scroll down, you can see a complete list of mirror sites. http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/downloadmirrors
I learn something ubuntu everyday. dell precision T7500 1Tb hdd x 2 2.67 Ghz intel xeon X5550 cpu nvidia quadro fx 4800-1.5 Gb video card
Right on... thank you. I looked at that list and honestly didn't recognize anything as being physically in Hawaii. Did you by chance notice anything that's physically in Hawaii? (such that it wouldn't have to go off-island for Internet traffic?) Keeping my hopes up, (but currently downloading Ubuntu from Santa Barbara...) ~yaskota
Sorry, couldn't find one in Hawaii.
I work in an IT department at UH. I'll ask about the possibility of hosting on our server. I doubt anything could be put in place soon, but it couldn't for me to start asking around, right?
Actually the list in http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/downloadmirrors does not show all servers, it only shows the ones you can get the .iso from. For example, the site only shows 3 servers in Brazil, but when I go to System > Administration > Software Sources and see the complete list, there are actually 6 servers in Brazil, but only 3 of them seem to have the .iso for downloads. Maybe you can find a server in Hawaii.
