    Running Windows: Partition or VirtualBox?

I recently got a Unix laptop from System 76, but it looks like I'll need to run some version of Windows to avoid divorce (apparently Open Office and Wine do not convert her files seamlessly). Can anyone give reccomendations or compare/contrast VirtualBox vs partitioning the hard drive?

If you want games or other software than you will need to run directly on the hardware. Otherwise, given that you have a fast enough machine, running in VirtualBox is just as good.

In my opinion VirtualBox would be better because you wouldn't have to keep rebooting to switch the OS. It's just more convenient.

If you don't play games and have enough ram n cpu you should go for virtualbox

My pc use is just basic stuff (whatever that may be!). I have XP dual booted and Virtual box but I invariably choose virtual box as it saves rebooting and does everything for me that the boot way will do.

Another vote for VirtualBox. I use Ubuntu at work and have some windows specific apps that are necessary for my job. I have a dual boot but after installing VirtualBox I haven't booted into Windows in at least a month.
