Ubuntu Support for LG KP500 Cookie?

    Dear Forum,

Is anybody aware of Ubuntu/Linux support for the LG KP500 Cookie mobile phone, or (since that might work as well) any other phone from LG? Of course it is possible to access the phone's memory when plugged to the USB port, but I would be interested in managing the contact data, calendar entries etc.

    Many Thanks,

    Wolfram

I'd be interested in this too

Judging by the lack of responses here to getting things working i've now switched to a blackberry pearl and google sync which works flawlessly with evolution calendar and contacts, long way for a round about but to be homest i wasn't that hot on the cookie after a month or twos use.

it looks like we need more ubunutu'ers before LG and the like take notice, but thanks to everyone who tried

I am using ubuntu 9.04 and it does not even detect my LG kp500 as a mass storage device when I plug it in using the data cable.

Any suggestions to make it work??

Bluetooth works fine in Ubuntu and LG KP500, you can easily transfer files between them. However I have yet to experiment with contacts sync.

Don't know if this is too late. But I just got an lg cookie because it was affordable. Thing is i've got 9.04 ubuntu on my toshiba satellite laptop which is a good few years old. I got wine which runs some windows programs. The software I got with the cookie is a no go it just won't work with wine on the ubuntu. I've been trying to put music videos on the cookie thinking it was mp4's I have to put on, when infact as well as mp4 it also takes 3gp type movies. So the lead that came with the lg cookie is useless. But I have a bluetooth dongle plugged in to the laptop And It works. I can now send jpeg 3gp and mp3 files via bluetooth to my lg cookie.
As more of you are buying lg cookies who have linux systems I hope this helps. Ubuntu is still the best.

    Thanks for the update koussoulos,
I have bought my GF one for Christmas, so its good to know I can use my *nix box to transfer some stuff onto it for her. I will try contact/calendar transfer & backup after Christmas & report back with any success (or lack of it).
