mouse moves and clicks randomly

This just started and is getting annoying. It's not just a jump here and there, it goes all over the place. Saw some threads that discuss hardware issues but I don't think that is it. If I unplug the go off line, it stops. When I am on for a little while it is fine then it goes haywire. Is this some kind of intrusion? I have looked for some security software but even the basic stuff is over my head. If I re-install Ubuntu, would that take care of it, or is it something that I have to chance through my isp?

This is a really long shot, but I read about someone having problems with their mouse going squirrelly about the same time each day. It turned out to be reflected light from the sun shining in a window.

I wish it were that easy. I have had problems with serfaces that kind of act that way but this is definitely not that

I had the same problem in Ubuntu 6.06 (Dapper Drake), it is a driver issue and is very maddening lol. Try Ubuntu 8.10.

I had this problem in Vista so I can say for sure that this isn't an ubuntu problem.
