Linux drivers for Spanish mobile broadband?

I'm going to Spain in a few weeks, and was planning on taking my laptop (Acer Aspire One) which is running Xubuntu 8.10. There is no cable/DSL broadband where I am staying, but there will be a mobile phone signal, which leads me to 3G broadband. I don't want to get a mobile dongle here, as the roaming charges on data are extortionate (£1/Mb!), so my plan was to buy a pay-as-you-go dongle while I'm over there. My question is, are there Linux drivers for the various providers of mobile broadband dongles? If so, I'll download all of them (if they're not already in the kernel), and when I know which one I end up buying, I'll compile the relevant driver.

I'd suggest doing some googling on 3g dongles and providers in Spain before you go.

In the UK, I'm sure you have seen that the Huawei brand is popular.

    https://wiki.ubuntu.com/NetworkManager/Hardware/3G gives some Spanish details.
