default user name and password for live CD portion?

Hi All,

I just fired up kubuntu-8.10-desktop-i386.iso in the live CD mode
(Try without modifying ...). I got all kinds of strange graphics
until all cleared up at the log on screen.

Not to ask too dumb a question, but what is the user name and
password in live cd mode? Is there a separate root password as well?

When you first boot up from the LiveCD, press F4 and pick the safe graphic mode. See if that boots alright on your machine.

Oh it boots fine. I just miss any messages about the default user name and password. I do have the full potato running in a virtual machine and there are no graphics problems booting. It is just need to know the user name and password when I boot up (in my virtual machine) in Live CD mode.
