What's everyones problem with Vista again?

We've all heard about how bad Vista is and for some reason everyone seems to think the same thing, until a few days ago, I did too.

I decided to crack open a Vista case (Ultimate) and I tried it out. I should point out it was slightly vLite'd - UAC was disabled and so were a few default services.

I liked it. I liked Aero, I really liked DreamScene, I liked the fact it liked my Dual Cores more than XP... It's no way better than Linux but there's something nice about it.

So yeah... What was everyone's problem again?

I also quite liked it, as it has very nice looks. There's nothing really evil about it. My problem is that it reads/writes too much to the hard disk (especially after startup) even with no indexing, pagefile, hibernation, and all unnecessary services turned off. I think a lot of the criticism was from its first year incompatibility with people's hardware/older software. Also, the amount of configuration options and personal folder locations is scary for the newbie, such as the general public. I've also tried Window 7, and it's really just a tweaked version of Vista. Going off the reviews, you would think they were two completely different versions.

    I've had no compatibility problems.

It seems to use a lot less memory than XP did - and XP was nLite'd

    Be more specific about "Buggy"

Be more specific about "The support sucks"

Those really aren't valid points at all - I think THAT'S everyones problem, no one can really find a problem so they need to make them up...

I have been on customer support with them all night and still never got the problem fixed (Network issues).

Vista takes up 10+ gigs for restore points.

Incompatible with Logging software and some CNC software malfunctions. (brunt up a few steppers this way)

Yes it is smoother than XP. I can't program my MCUs with it installed.

It is a good OS for the end-user, but for tinkerer's like myself it is not so good.

Yeah, Vista sux on CRAP computers.

Even more, if you don't have license you don't have access to updates.

Vista is flawless on a good PC, W7 will be even better.

Unfortunately, it came pre-installed on my crap computer (with 512MB RAM).

That put me off forever. It took forever (about 2 mins) just to open IE.

Firstly that's a 100% stupid thing to say. An OS should be able to open a web browser quickly and be usable in a few seconds on a machine with less than 512MiB ram.

Vista is terrible with memory end of story. I have a laptop with 512MiB RAM running Ubuntu with Compiz and loads of other eye candy and Firefox can load my homepage in about 3 seconds from clicking the icon. The same cannot be said for Vista.

What are you doing on these forums posting stuff like that anyway?
