Angry Dumb Newbie: Shared Printer Can't be this hard

I'm a newbie and wasn't that bright at windows either, but I cannot figure out how to share a printer connected to a Linux box with my Windows XP PC. If you can help me or point me to the right place, I'd appreciate it. I have spent hours reading thru stuff on Ubuntu or Google. Don't want to go back to windows,,,

I cannot figure out why I can't print to an HP OfficeJet 5510 USB connected to a PC running Ubuntu 8.04.
My Network sees all the PCs are on the same network name.
I can print from the Linux PC to the attached printer just fine.
    The printer is shared.

I can go to the windows laptop and see the printer, install it, set it as default, and try to print to it, but windows gives an error:

    SYSTEM ERROR
The document cannot be printed due to a system error.

I cannot figure out what to do. Help!

from system>administration>printers double click on your printer and select policies, is "shared" checked?
