    Detecting integrated webcam

    Hi!

    I have a laptop with an integrated webcam but I am not sure how to make my computer detect it. I've done some searching and here are the data:

    What happens if you use Skype with that webcam?

    Since some hardware in the Linux kernel get's loaded as modules they will only load when they need to.

    I think you must compile your own Linux kernel in order to get support for that webcam. Although I'm not sure if the Linux kernel supports it, there's a chance it will. I did some Google searches but I couldn't find anything useful on the subject.

    Getting a usb webcam and connect to it would be the easiest thing to get a webcam up and running at the present without going for another Linux kernel.

    Maybe someone can find something better on this?

    I've tried easycam but while it says (I think) the installation was completed it is not able to capture anything. Skype finds something called "BisonCam (dev/video0)".
