Fonts

I am fully aware that this is going to sound all kinds of special, but, where do I save font files to? Obviously with windows I just saved it into the font folder but that isn't usually the case with Ubuntu.

OK. So I had assumed it had worked as when I refreshed the cache it came up with the name of the folder I wanted and it said eight fonts found and all that jazz. BUT, when I go into Writer it isn't listed. Am I missing something obvious here?

are you looking under the name of the font? the fonts appear under the name of the font not the folder.

I've just realised the font I'm trying to add is an .otf file. Would this be a problem? If so, is there anyway to overcome this?
