    Re: snd_hda_intel options database

TOSHIBA A200 works with lenovo option. Totally lucky try.
So anyone with ALC861-VD try this.
I had sound but the sound from the built-in speakers didn't mute when i plugged in headphones. Now it works.
Unbelievable, after months of trying I have almost given up.
That was the last thing keeping me away from using linux more.
I have it on my laptop but never used it much.

    Re: snd_hda_intel options database

I have a eMachines T3604. I have been running Ubuntu and at one time my sound was working. But then I upgraded to 8.10 and it stopped. I went through the forums followed a bunch of directions and never got it to work. Finally I say 9.04 was coming out and I thought maybe that would fix it. But it didn't. I have been through the forums again and I still can't get it to work.

I think the problem is with the Alsa driver. lspci sees the chipset but there are no sound cards in /proc/asound/cards. Here are the outputs of the normal set of commands.

    Re: snd_hda_intel options database

Thanks guys, some progress here. Now I have one beep on start which is nice and some sound though very quiet. I have a HP DV4 (1100 ea I think) Ive used the ALSA upgrade script, however in preferences sound only the Auto or OSS seems to work, so ive left it in auto. Im not sure i have pulse installed anymore as when I killall pulseaudio it says pulse:nothing killed.

This used to work my ECS notebook as well. I was using Ubuntu 8.10 for over 7 months.
Now that I've installed Ubuntu 9.04, it doesn't work.
I wonder what has changed with Ubuntu that the old code didn't work.

    Re: snd_hda_intel options database

The database is now updated with all reported fixes to here. So, if you are searching you do not need to look between here and the OP.

The database is getting a little messy so I should probably revamp it soon.

    Thanks to everyone who contributed
