    Upgrade for Linux Box

I am looking to upgrade an old Linux box on a budget for use with *nix (in particular Ubuntu 8.x) and am considering:
    processor - AMD Phenom X3 8450
    MB - ECS A780VM-M2
    memory - DDR2-800
    DVD (all-in-1) - HP dvd1035i DVD Writer

Do you see any compatability problems here? Thanks!

    Re: Upgrade for Linux Box

I did searches for a couple of these components in the Hardware & Laptops forum and did not get any hits. The searches apparently included the Desktop Hardware In/Compatibility Lists. Does this mean these components are probably safe?

I am mostly concerned with the DVD and figure that a common processor and memory would be fine--also thought maybe a motherboard here and there might not work.

People who have problems come here. No problem, no need for help.
There are some mobos that are problematic but that usually shows up in the forums here pretty quickly, same with other hardware.
