    GNOME Do 0.8 Alpha Release

Hello, Ubuntu fans. The GNOME Do team is busy readying the next release of GNOME Do, version 0.8. I'm excited to invite you to try out our alpha and beta releases. We are currently offering alpha packages for Intrepid only:

    Intrepid i386 PPA: http://launchpad.net/~do-testers/+archive
Tarball and Intrepid 64-bit deb: https://edge.launchpad.net/do/trunk/0.7.95

Install the gnome-do and gnome-do-plugins packages.

Edit: 64-bit users will still need to add the PPA to get the gnome-do-plugins package.

Bugs can be reported here: http://bugs.launchpad.net/do Please search
for your problem before posting a bug to be sure that you don't create
    a duplicate bug report.

When you get the alpha up and running, please reply to this thread
    with a nice screenshot

    Thank you,
    David

Re: GNOME Do 0.8 Alpha Release

I actually just compiled a 64bit version last night. Its pretty nice. I would like the feature of autohiding only when the a window is maximized... i.e it goes away when im actually trying to do something. Other than that, I actually like it. Ive had one or two problems with it crashing so I'll try this .deb to see if its more stable.

Is Docky included in the PPA at all? Thanks.

Docky is a skin for gnome-do, basically. It's found under the appearances tab in the gnome-do preferences thing.
The command line is a powerful tool. You should not type a command unless you know what it does.

Anyone getting it working on 64bit? I can't select docky because the theme option is greyed out.

Compositing needs to be enabled for Docky to work, from what I know.

Re: GNOME Do 0.8 Alpha Release

been waiting for an update ever since i found out that "home" won't open my home folder anymore. thanks guys!

    a few comments:

    1. it'd be great to see a preview of the gnome-do window when choosing themes

    2. for some reason, i can't take a screenshot by pressing "prtscrn" if do is open. solved the problem by using the "take screenshot" app and giving it a countdown.

again, thanks! gnome-do has become a core app for me.
