Question Is There An Undelete Program For SD Cards?

I have an SD Card that Vista (via Picasa) managed to delete some critical photos and videos. I know that there are SD Undelete programs for XP and Vista but I don't want to get burned again by Microsoft so I'm looking for an SD Undelete / file recovery program for Linux. Does anyone know where to find one? I've come up short using Google.

There are a lot of "file recovery" programs for Linux BUT SD cards are not of the ext3/reiser format that those programs usually work on. The program has to be for SD media. Any ideas?

    Thanks!

Incase it hadn't crossed your mind, be sure not to do any read/writes to the card in question until you have a solution!

If I recall SD cards us a FAT format so anything that can recover files from a fat filesystem should work in this case.

I have had success with photorec which is part of the testdisk package. Just apt-get install testdisk and then sudo photorec. About a month ago I used it to retrieve about 100 photos that were accidentally deleted from an sd card.
    Good luck

Super program recovered 160 pictures (500mb) in only 3 minutes.
Remember to run photorec and not testdisk

I had the same problem. It recovered over 600MB of data in under 20 minutes. Thanks so much.

Many thanks. This program worked very well. my works server crashed and 5 very important photos were lost. I had deleted the photos of my sd card the day before, but with this program recovered not only these 5 photos but also every single photo i'd taken over the last 4 months (285 photos i thought i deleted).

Re: Is There An Undelete Program For SD Cards?

    Hello!

I tried that for .avi files, and Photorec found lots of stuff, but turned .avi files into .jpeg pics (like the video was cut into a lot of images), but no .avi files were found or recovered. Does it mean that it only recovers photos???

Does anybody know how to recover deleted movie files from an SD card?

    Thanx!!
