    [SOLVED] Dell V305W Printer

    Hi

Our printer died tonight, so having a quick look online, I saw this printer and wondered if anyone had any experience of it?

We have two laptops, both Dell, this one running Ubuntu 8.10 and the other running Vista. I sort of assume that a Dell printer will work with Dell laptops but would like, if possible, to know that the wireless side will work properly.

In general, HP has the best linux support for printers - see here for a list of supported printers. Also there is a self-extracting installer that does does a good job of ensuring all dependencies are met. If plugged in during an installation of ubuntu, HP printers are installed during the OS installation. Up to you what you get but HP and linux is a good combination.

Question Re: [SOLVED] Dell V305W Printer

This seems to be the same as the Lexmark X4650. There are now .deb packages with drivers for it. Have you tried that ?

This indicates a bit more fiddling to make it work, but seems promising:
