Re: HOW-TO iPod with (Ubuntu) Linux

please post your /etc/fstab and are you using gnome or kde?

it seems that your ipod is being hotplugged correctly but it is unable to mount with the appropriate filesystem.

was your ipod originally formatted for windows or mac?

    AusIV,

i am not aware of any linux programs that support the iTMS DRM. sorry. To my knowledge, quicktime is what is used to validate the DRM of iTMS purchases.

my advice to you is to burn your purchased music to cd (using iTunes), and re-rip the tracks. this will elliminate the DRM

Is there a way to make Amarok svn automatically fetch missing ipod covers as it does with local files?

This works real well with the Shuffle.

    http://shuffle-db.sourceforge.net/

For some reason I can't click the executable to run the script, but it works great from the command line.

Re: HOW-TO iPod with (Ubuntu) Linux

when i start up gtkpod, i get the error "/media/ipod/iPod_Control/iTunes/iTunesDB' does not exist. Import aborted."

i've got a .ext file called iTunesDB in ~/.gtkpod (~/.gtkpod/iTunesDB.ext). it seems that, without this file, gtkpod won't remember what's on my ipod, and /media/ipod/ doesnt exist. Can i mkdir and put iTunesDB.ext into it to make everything happy?

Re: HOW-TO iPod with (Ubuntu) Linux

I'm pretty sure that /media/ipod is a directory that is created by the system when it mounts your ipod.

If you mkdir the directory then mount your ipod the system will then create and use /media/ipod2.

Re: HOW-TO iPod with (Ubuntu) Linux

In order to make this howto complete, I would add the new GTKpod version w/ a howto install to the video section. There are debs that I have used for video at the following links:

    http://box.go.dyndns.org/dev/libgpod_0.3.0-1_i386.deb

    http://box.go.dyndns.org/dev/gtkpod_...-0cvs_i386.deb

all I did was install them
    Code:
    sudo dpkg -i libgpod_0.3.0-1_i386.deb
    sudo dpkg -i gtkpod_0.99.3-0cvs_i386.deb
I haven't tried using version 0.99.4 debs but the ones above (0.99.3) do work.
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
my original source that I found these links was here
    http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showpost...0&postcount=34
Your video ipod will work with Amarok.

Re: HOW-TO iPod with (Ubuntu) Linux

Did anybody have trouble copying .mp4 (video) files to their iPod video?

gtkpod doesn't seem to recognize .mp4 files!
