Replacing video card....

How hard is it to replace a video card in Ubuntu 8.10? I know in XP, you atleast get a low low resolution on reboot. What happens in linux?

Any one point me in the right direction?

if you are staying with the same kind of card nvidia to nvidia/ati to ati, just take out the old one and pop in the new. if you are going let's say from nvidia to ati, i would remove any proprietary drivers first, just to be on the safe side. if you are not using any drivers, you have no worries, just replace the card and boot up.
