Gateway 600 YGR installed 8.04 Hardy Heron Thanks Ubuntu.

I had one heck of a time installing Linux to this laptop. This morning I gave it another try. Updated the system as well now to tweak a few items.

I just wanted to give others a heads up with this model 600YGR Gateway Laptop installed.
P4 1.8 Ghz 512 of Ram 30 gig HD
When I searched for this model it showed no real Linux installs.

I run the majority of my Towers and Laptops with Ubuntu.

I have tried installing 8.04, 8.10 and Linux Mint on my 600 YGR with no luck. The live CD hangs during boot and the alt CD hangs during install at various percentages. I have installed Fedora 9 with no issues on this laptop but really want to get Ubuntu installed. Did you have to take extra steps to get 8.04 installed?
