Installation crash on Armada E500 Laptop

    HI everybody.
First of all I would to say that I'm absolutely dummy in linux world.
I've bought for a fistfull of Euros an compaq armada e500 laptop, not so new....The CPU is an INTEL P3 800MHz with 128MB of ram and 10GB of hard disk.
I choose for this pc the Xubuntu 8.10 release, but there's a big problem. After few minutes from the beginning of the installation process, when just the windows with the mouse pointer and a nice blue desktop color appear, it crash. No more mouse, no more cd and hard disk activities. All is frozen. The only thing I can do is reset the pc.
Why? there's something doesn't like to Xubuntu? Not enough ram?
BHA! Please, I DO NOT WONT TO PUT IN WINDOWS! SAME VE!

    Minimum system requirements

To run the Desktop CD (LiveCD + Install CD), you need 128 MB RAM to run or 192 MB RAM to install. The Alternate Install CD only requires you to have 64 MB RAM. To install Xubuntu, you need 1.5 GB of free space on your hard disk. Once installed, Xubuntu can run with 192 MB RAM, but it is strongly recommended to have at least 256 MB RAM.
I would try the alternate installer:

Keep it real. Keep it nice.
