new dvd, unable to watch\rip

I purchased wall-e the other day and I wanted to rip it to my pc so I can watch it on my DVR. First thing, I am not even able to play on my pc (mplayer),(VLC). Second thing, I am able to see the files on the DVD and noticed that there are a lot more files that a usually DVD. Searched around, only thing I can find is http://answers.yahoo.com/question/in...0171742AA5Fhd2
as far a ripping goes. Has anybody had this issue.

You should be able to watch with vlc 0.8.6, 0.9.x may have problems with this title.
Totem-xine should also be able to play.

Mplayer should be ok if run from command line and specify title 30

Well I have had some luck, I am able to play it in Xine.

You were right on! I was able to k9copy it to an iso and now I can watch it.

While that was quite some time ago (for my 'aging' mind) I may have used a very remarkable program called PgcEdit.
It's available both for win and linux (I prefer the win ver. in wine, the gui is 'cleaner'

Between that and vobblanker (wine only) all but the worst structure protections can be figured out and fixed. (though in many cases it's more the interest and challenge than practical

If I did use PgcEdit then I probably ran it in 'trace' mode which uses the ifo's to run thru the dvd as if it was in a standalone player. (not graphically, text based so to speak

You can watch and see the progressions and whats played and what's skipped on the way to starting the main movie (this is only a 'tiny' part of it's capabilities


If you were inclined to ck. it out it's now "donation' based for the current version, older ones aren't
