    Alright. Commented out the final line, restarted computer and restarted X Server. Still no extra files in the home/username folder, no changes to xorg.conf or xinitrc after the change, etc. Still nothing in the wacom control panel. So no changes, still no reactivity. Hrm.. *puts on his thinking cap*

    Hi murderslastcrow,

    Thinking cap is right. I may be stumped, but I'm not quite ready to admit it. I've slowly been going through your enablewacomtest.txt and comparing it to my output. So far the only difference is that you are on 32-bit x86 and I am on 64-bit AMD. Plus you've got some other output to look at which on first glance doesn't look right.

    Since we're getting desperate I am going to upload my .xinitrc file for you to load into your system. Place it in /home/user name/ and be sure to put the period in front ".xinitrc". Right click on it and chose properties and in permissions make sure allow executing file as program is checked. It should end up as a hidden file that you will only be able to see with view hidden files checked. What is your exact model number? TX2??? and any trailing letters?

    Ok, it would not let me add it as an attachment, so you'll have to create the file yourself.
    Code:
    xsetwacom set stylus Suppress "2"
    xsetwacom set stylus RawSample "4"
    xsetwacom set stylus ClickForce "6"
    xsetwacom set stylus PressCurve "0 0 100 100"
    xsetwacom set eraser bottomy "16630"
    xsetwacom set eraser bottomx "26416"
    xsetwacom set eraser topy "-101"
    xsetwacom set eraser topx "66"
    xsetwacom set stylus bottomy "16630"
    xsetwacom set stylus bottomx "26416"
    xsetwacom set stylus topy "-101"
    xsetwacom set stylus topx "66"
    xsetwacom set touch bottomy "3916"
    xsetwacom set touch bottomx "4021"
    xsetwacom set touch topy "81"
    xsetwacom set touch topx "122"
    xsetwacom set stylus TPCButton "off"
    xsetwacom set stylus Button3 "Button 3"
    xsetwacom set stylus Button2 "Button 3"
    xsetwacom set stylus Button1 "Button 1"
    # run the primary system script
    . /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc
    Then reboot and let us see what happens.

    By output I mean:
    for dmesg | grep Wacom you got:
    Code:
    "[ 38.344594] wacom: v1.49:USB Wacom Graphire and Wacom Intuos tablet driver"
    while I get:
    Code:
    ~$ dmesg | grep Wacom
    [   30.563774] input: Wacom ISDv4 93 as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:0b.1/usb2/2-2/2-2.3/2-2.3:1.0/input/input11

    [ 30.661218] wacom: v1.49:USB Wacom Graphire and Wacom Intuos tablet driver
    While for ls -l /dev/input/by-path you get:
    Code:

    There seems to be no wacom tablet input that your system is recognizing! Which figures since you don't get stylus, etc. You swear your stylus and eraser and touch work in Vista?

    Re: HP tx2000 tablet won't function, 8.10 (Intrepid Bipex)

    Hey guys, I'm a new Linux/Ubuntu user with a tx2500 at my wits' end trying to get my stylus working. Waiting with baited breath to see what you can come up with, because I've been through every tutorial I can find (including gali98's), with no luck.

    I wish I could offer some suggestions or insight, but instead I'm hoping you guys can magically find a solution. If you want to take a look at any config's or outputs, let me know.

    Thanks,
    Drew

    Re: HP tx2000 tablet won't function, 8.10 (Intrepid Bipex)

    Alright, I made the code into the .xinitrc file in my home/username/ directory like you asked. It was automatically hidden and I checked "allow running as an executable" after displaying hidden files.

    Just for reference, the xinitrc in etc/X11/xinit/ doesn't have a dot before it, and remains completely uncommented as it was. I restarted once and everything is completely the same as before, no reactivity. Oh, and like I said earlier, I have an on-screen digitizer with a stylus. The stylus isn't electronic at all- in fact, I've used Nintendo DS styluses with it XD. So yeah, there isn't an eraser to be noticed. The only real hardware that can activate is the digitized screen and the screen rotation- everything else is without drivers. Just a little piece of plastic.

    And yes, it always worked in Vista, never had any issues. I can do so much more with Linux, though, so I'd hate to go back just for that. I probably wouldn't even if this weren't fixable- just buy a bamboo tablet. XD But it sure would be nice to have the screen as it was. I'm sure that with time this will be a very simplified subject, since it is pretty recent at the moment.

    Thanks for the files, anyway. Any more ideas?

    Re: HP tx2000 tablet won't function, 8.10 (Intrepid Bipex)

    Okay, this is hilarious.

    So, I just called the manufacturer to verify my model number. I gave them all my information, along with my order number, etc. My order says it was a tx2000 model, along with the printing on the packaging. However, they said they sent a tx1000 with that order.

    So I put in my product number online for the auto-detection wizard, and turns out the computer it a tx1000 (which might explain the lack of erasers and hardware pens).

    =_= ; Utterly ridiculous. So yeah, apparently this is another issue altogether. *researches forums once more with this in mind* If you guys still have any ideas for how to make this model work, I'd be glad to know. Sorry for the mix up, especially for the people who've been spending their free time just trying to assist me. I can't believe they sent me the wrong computer.

    That fixed it immediately. I'm so sorry for those of you who are still having this issue with the newest versions of the tablet. Thank you so much for your time! I wouldn't consider it useless, though- I did learn a few things about linux during the course of things, so I'm better off for it.

    :3 Ubuntu rocks, hardcore. XD

    Angry HP tx2500 tabletwith ATI 3200 still not working

    First of all, thanks to all of you for making sense of all the other posts on touchscreen/tablet.
    I have an HP pavilion tx2500, AMD64, running Intrepid 64bits (kernel 2.6.27-9-generic). I followed your instructions, I un-installed the proprietary ATI drivers, ran the tutorial from gali98 (november 3rd--- http://ohioloco.ubuntuforums.org/sho...47&postcount=5 ), modify my /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc and used the (for tx2500) /etc/X11/xorg.conf (both provided by Favux), and still nothing works. Every time I rebooted I did a lsmod and only after un-installing the ATI drivers wacom appeared in the answer. It seems that ATI prevents wacom to be loaded or something... which lead me to my first question: Would I have to choose between compiz and tablet functionality ? (If so, that is really bad).
    Here are outputs for
    dmesg | grep Wacom
    [ 18.048515] input: Wacom ISDv4 93 as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:14.5/usb6/6-2/6-2:1.0/input/input10
    [ 18.292550] input: Wacom ISDv4 93 as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:14.5/usb6/6-2/6-2:1.1/input/input11
    [ 18.354005] wacom: v1.49:USB Wacom Graphire and Wacom Intuos tablet driver

    ls -l /dev/input/by-path
    total 0
    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 9 2008-12-14 18:38 pci-0000:00:13.2-usb-0:2:1.0-event- -> ../event9
    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 10 2008-12-14 18:38 pci-0000:00:14.5-usb-0:2:1.0-event-mouse -> ../event10

    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 9 2008-12-14 18:38 pci-0000:00:14.5-usb-0:2:1.1- -> ../mouse2
    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 10 2008-12-14 18:38 pci-0000:00:14.5-usb-0:2:1.1-event- -> ../event11
    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 9 2008-12-14 18:38 platform-i8042-serio-0-event-kbd -> ../event1
    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 10 2008-12-14 18:38 platform-i8042-serio-1-event-mouse -> ../event12
    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 9 2008-12-14 18:38 platform-i8042-serio-1-mouse -> ../mouse3
    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 9 2008-12-14 18:38 platform-pcspkr-event-spkr -> ../event8

    Any ideas what is going on with this that still doesn't work ?
    Thanks again.

    Hi murderslastcrow,

    Great! Mystery solved. That's why your input output's didn't look right. By the way I finished going through your install and make outputs. I couldn't find an error. In fact towards the end yours installed a library mine didn't. So I think you are loading a wacom kernel module. But since you don't have a wacom tablet it isn't doing anything. The next kernel upgrade will break the wacom driver anyway.

    I noticed on Jaunty that touchpad support was a high priority item. So with Jaunty the TX1000 may work out of the box.

    Why don't you see if they will exchange the TX1000 for a TX2000? It sounds like you wanted a TX2000 to begin with.

    murderslastcrow could you please mark this thread solved. It's in thread tools at the top of the posts.

    Hi Riverhed and DrakeGis,

    Since this is a solved thread, please join me at my Rotation HOW TO thread:

    http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=996830

    fbdelivers just got his TX2500 working using a TX2500 xorg.conf I posted him. Read through the thread and we can get going.

    Thanks.
