I hear you can install compiz with the netbook remix in Karmic now. Has anyone tested the release of UNR 9.10 Karmic with compiz on the t91? T'would be slick, I can't really stand the min/max windows animation without compiz (it's too XP style and I don't even know how to disable it in Gnome )

I've heard sonething different.
NB : eeebuntu is not based on Karmic.
Eeebuntu will be switching over to Debian Unstable-based instead of Ubuntu-based in their next version.
OMG! Ubuntu! claims that compiz is now compatible with the netbook remix: http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2009/10/q...tu-karmic.html

OMG! Kamoso works with the webcam on the t91! I haven't tried Skype yet (which also apparently works), but at least I know Kamoso works.
The webcam is at /dev/video0. I'm going to try some other things including EasyCam, hopefully it'll work.

After big disappointments with Karmic I'm postponing the update on my T91... after all that Netbook is delicate enough without taking chances
How do I fix the screen resolution? I used the gma 500 PPA (and added other Karmic PPA's to get the dependencies) - https://launchpad.net/~lucazade/+archive/gma500. It pretty much contains the same poulsbo packages as that jaunty repository, plus a modified kernel, but I still haven't managed to fix the screen resolution. Is there a way to do it? Am I missing something?
Edit: I blacklisted i915 and I set xorg.conf as stated in the instructions posted earlier in this thread, and the screen resolution now works properly.
Also, my netbook-launcher doesn't work. It's not that big a deal, I just use Alt+F1 to access the menus anyway, but still...
How exactly do I calibrate the touch screen now that I have that working?
Edit: I found the "calibrate touchscreen" under Sys>Prefs
Has anyone got the screen rotate button to work in Karmic and if so, what's the trick?
Please help.

Say, I was trying to use EasyStroke but I couldn't get it to recognize my strokes using the touch screen (or even the touch pad for that matter). How do I get EasyStroke to recognize my "strokes"?

Have you set up a gesture button? You need some key combination in the settings to tell the program when it should treat strokes as shortcuts and not just moving the pointer around. Unfortunately I can't get it to use that little screen rotate button, so it isn't much use in tablet mode. Unless someone has a trick for that I haven't thought of.
Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this thread. It has meant I've gotten my new t91 all set up and working with UNR karmic without much hassle. This thing ran like a sloth with the xp install it came with, but UNR performance is quite passable (once the graphics driver is installed).
FYI,
I've managed to have a stable wifi connection using the ndiswrapper and the drivers provided by Asus on Windows (netathw)
My feeling is that the default Ubuntu driver doesn't configure the wireless board to use enough power to get a stable connection. At the same location in the house in one case I have more than 50% but 25% with the other driver
