Re: Who does an e17 distro the best?

I have been using OpenGEU for months now. I chose it over Elive because it is Ubuntu based and supports 64bit.

Despite E17 being criticized often for not being stable. IMO OpenGEU is as stable if not more so than Windows XP (which is the only other OS I use often side by side with it to compare to). For some that may not be saying much... but its the best I got.

I do have Ubuntu 9.04 installed on another partition, but I hardly give that any play.
    OpenGEU 8.10 Luna Serena 64bit
    AMD Athlon-X2 6000+ / 8gb DDR2-800 RAM / Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-US2H / Nvidia GeForce 9600 GT / 640gb HD
    Acer Aspire 6530 : AMD Athlon X2 / 3gb DDR2-667 RAM / ATI HD3200 / 250gb HD

It is clear after installing Macpup Opera 061 that this the best e17 distro to date.

Works without fail, beautifully, flawlessly and super fast and stable!

Thanks for the heads up on MacPup, I'm gonna try it out on my Asus Eee 8g.

I am quite blown away with this distro, it is elegant, beautiful, super fast and the install was easy and effortless, all the needed codecs appear to be there as the DVD movies and music CDs played out-of-the-box without fail.

I will most likely begin using Macpup Opera 061 as my primary Operating System from here on out.

I have been using Opera for years along with Firefox so they are both good choices for me, they also have a Macpup Foxy edition if you prefer Firefox.

Re: Who does an e17 distro the best?

I have been a sometime Opera user for a couple of years.
It currently has a bug that makes it unusable.

Go to a site that it doesn't like (at least 2 of my regulars) and it will go into a frenzy of eating memory until it kills your computer.

I built Ecomorph but it still has some serious problems not working on multiple desktops and losing windows.

The key to having a good E17 setup is to customize the keystrokes.
It is possible to use E17 without a mouse at all if you have the Vimperator Firefox plugin.
I can live with E17s few idiosyncrasies. It leaves KDE and GNOME for dead in utility, customisation and speed.

I have never had any trouble with Opera, Firefox, or Google Chrome/Chromium...I like them all the same.

My favorite is leaning towards Google Chrome/Chromium; while Opera and Firefox are tied for second.

Slitaz has e17 in its repositories and it works beautifully in my opinion. Slitaz is 30mbs large, adding e17 does not add that much weight. Leaves alot of room.

It doesn't use -all- of enlightenment. It installs only the stable components. I think it is the best enlightenment I've ever seen, even though the distribution is only 30mbs.
