Wow, this is a very interesting thread. I love it!!!
I also have a very crappy computer with the following specs:

    1.0GB HDD
    75MHz Intel Pentium I
16MB of RAM upgradeable to 128MB
    CD and a Floppy drive
    Booting Micro$oft Window$ 95

As you can see, this is literally an OLD computer. I would like to take off Windows 95 from this computer and replace it with linux. Do you guys know a good linux distro for this computer? Would Puppy be too much for this? Should I give DSL a try? Or is it even worth it? I would still fun to bring "new" life to this computer.

my old laptop probably wouldn't even run linux

it's got the IntelDX2 processor with 8 mb of disk space.
It even has a floppy drive and the only avaliable input ports look like old LPT lines and VGA connectors

It doesn't even have a name, just called notebook computer

You would be surprised. You could launch BasicLinux from DOS.

Recently I manage to salvage some old computer parts and assemble to one decent workable computer. The spec as below.

Pentium 3 (Coppermine) running at 866Mhz
384MB RAM with 20GB hard disk
S3 Graphice not sure which model with 15" Samsung monitor

Just Install Lubuntu Lucid Lynx Beta 1 and its work great. I am accessing this forum using this very computer. My computer is alive!!!

I like tinycore. I installed it out of curiosity and was impressed by the software available in its repos. It even has a Docky style dock. Pretty cool for such a small distro.

I had some cpu freq scaling issues that were easily solved thanks to the Tiny Core Forums.
