Any one can change root user password??

Hi Folks,

I am new user in 12.04 LTS. My doubt is that, i came to know that 'sudo' having the administrative privileges like root. Also any one can change the password of root using below command

sudo passwd root (if the intruder got the system password)


It's a drawback or not?? Then how the security is maintaining in the nw OS???

That applies to every computer. Even those in the Pentagon! Running Linux as Root user will allow anyone sitting at the keyboard to change the passwords, re-configure the system and access all files. How is security maintained in that OS???

Right now I could leave my machine and no one would be able to make any changes because I am the only one who knows my sudo/root/administrative password. The most insecure part of a computer is the user.
