Ubuntu 7.10
Excellent guide.
Thank you for taking the trouble to write this guide!
After following this guide, Firefox segmentation faults every time I go to the Add-ons menu.
The Downloads window has also stopped appearing, and the download-file dialog no longer shows up. Files are automatically saved to disk without any notification.
Help?

Since we both have 4GB of RAM, I used the numbers you supplied in the howto.
Although, I managed to solve my problems with the information in [this] post, mainly:
The segmentation fault problems went away after uninstalling the Download Statusbar add-on.(By the way, downloading files weren't appearing there either while it was installed. They were still automatically being saved to disk, though this problem is also fixed).Try also to ad (if you don't have it already) the string
browser.cache.disk.parent_directory
and put in the path to the directory
/home/USERNAME/.mozilla/firefox/xxxxxxx.default
Thanks for the guide! I'm a bit of a (x)ubuntu noob myself - at this step, I can't seem to find the option you're referring to - is this it or something else entirely? I couldn't find any other "run" options...
