I did exactly as described in #98, only using 2.6.28-15-generic instead.
When i reboot the second time nothing seems to have changed, audio is not mute as well.

And you got it working on the same machine? So what do you think I did wrong?

    Hi,

I got it working just now. I realized that I had made a mistake by using the -13 kernel at the aptitude part of the instructions. Now I used the -15 kernel and it is working.

Re: Sound on a Macbook Pro 5,5?

After various kernel updates in the Karmic development line I kept on losing sound.

I tried again with #98 but no luck.

I found, however, this bit that perfectly worked for me with kernel 2.6.31-12 without even restarting!

    Code:
    apt-get build-dep alsa-source
    wget ftp://ftp.alsa-project.org/pub/driver/alsa-driver-1.0.21.tar.bz2
    tar jxvf alsa-driver-1.0.21.tar.bz2
    cd alsa-driver-1.0.21
    ./configure
    make
    make install
    alsa force-reload
    From http://forum.notebookreview.com/show...t=418403#sound

    Good luck!

Thanks for the input, got inspired to upgrade to Karmic. After executing #98 sound works. Also restart works now. Can't tell yet if the other features work well though. Nice to finally have sound back!
