Hello!

Could I ask you a big favor?
I need help .
I have :
2x + [24-2 (y)] = 20
I tried to use Equation Solver here:

And I've got: y = x+2
It's the right answer, textbook shows me the same.
But I want to understand the way to solve it.
Please give me step by step explanation.

But I want to understand the way to solve it.

(1) Read the section of your textbook about Linear equations in two variables or any other source about the same subject.

(2) Read it again

(3) Do step (1)

What do you want it to be?

2x + [24-2 (y)] = 20

2x + 24 -2y = 20

2x -2y = -4

x - y = -2

-y = -2 - x

y = 2 + x

Now sustitude the above answer into the y of the original equation to determine the value for x, once you have the value for x put it into the original equation for x and then determine y.

In this case, they mean the same as the parentheses (round brackets). Square and curly brackets are often used in place of a second and third set of parentheses when they are nested, to provide a visual distinction.

{[1 + (x^2+2x+3)(x+2)]/[x + (3x^2+3x+1)(2x-1)]}/3=0
is the same as
((1 + (x^2+2x+3)(x+2))/(x + (3x^2+3x+1)(2x-1)))/3=0

In handwriting, I usually just use bigger parentheses.

Here they actually serve no purpose as far as I can tell as the oprerations remain the same with or without them.
