    Internet not working

    Hi

My internet has stopped working on my desktop (Hardy)after unplugging cable modem and router (Trendnet). However, it works fine without router on my laptop (WinXP). I have also tried without router on my desktop but nothing works. I have only one network card (eth0) enabled. Please help me out with this problem.

Your laptop may work because you have the ppoe software from the dsl company to issue your name and password to connect. Have you tested the router at all? Are you getting dhcp from the router?

I don't know exactly how to check router for dhcp; therefore, I have taken it out. Now I am trying for direct internet on Hardy with cable modem.
