Any idea which games work? I don't have any ROMs, but if, say, the Final Fantasy series worked, I might pop down to the local GameStop and pick up a used disc. Keep it legal people!

The full compatibility list is located here.

It's funny you should ask about the FF series specifically, as FFX is something of a killer app for this emulator. You can check out the compatibility status of the FF games here and the pages following.

Before you run out and spend your hard-earned cash, though, I would test on other playable games (if you have access to them) in order to determine if your system is powerful enough. Basically a dual core system is required, and a very fast dual core system is preferred. YMMV, as always.

Hmmm, no dual core here. AMD64. I'll check the specs and such after work, since websense has the site blocked.

Interesting opengl errors there. I assume you have direct rendering available? What card/drivers?

If this doesn't turn out to be something simple I would echo your report on the official forums.

Is a really powerful graphics card needed? I have a pretty fast dual-core system and the only thing really holding it back is the graphics card. I tried just booting to the BIOS and I didn't even get 4 FPS on the cubes animation.

Under the configuration menu click CPU and check everything.

    EErec
    VU0rec
    VU1rec
    MTGS
    DC

    Normal frame skip.

That should allow you to use your CPU to its fullest.
The answer to your question is (for the most part) no. The emulator is almost entirely CPU-limited. There are some games, notably FF12 and others, that can benefit from a more powerful GPU.
