    Unhappy Some Problems

    Hi I am Braydon,
I have just installed Ubuntu on my other machine. Well I know some things about Ubuntu already. BUT I need help.

I really need wine with the package not A link to the site. WHY? you may ask! Well I have a wireless thing plugged into my computer well I need to install the software for it and it is not for Ubuntu it is for Windows the problem is I can't use the internet on Ubuntu without this software.
Can someone please give me the download link for the actual file so I can put it on my USB?!?!

    Re: Some Problems

    Welcome to the forums braydon2!

Can you describe this 'software' that you want to run in wine please? What does it do and how?

And what kind of wireless 'Thing' is this? Can we see the output of :
    Code:
    lsusb
    while it is plugged in?

    EDIT:
    I'm too late it seems.

Ubuntu Can't write drivers for .exe files so I must get a router or modem.

    Late, maybe, maybe not.
+1 to what wine package is being alluded to.
    And exactly why.

It is a small looking USB the correct software and drivers must be written for it and "WINE" is an emulator for the software in which ubuntu would not receive the internet connection but only the emulator.

If you post in the Network and Wireless Section here, being as descriptive as possible (crystal balls do not work very well, so you need to provide some info, "small looking usb" can be anything), I'm sure some people will help you setting the monster up.

Please start a new thread including the output to :
    Code:
    lsusb
    when the dongle is connected.

To run the command, open a terminal, highlight the code in here, middle click to paste, <enter>, then paste back here the same way.
