    Thumbnails fail to load

Howdy, I'm having this strange issue.
    I'll just outline the situation.
    >Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS
    >Thumbnails in Nautilus fail to load.
    >Powertop says nautilus -n is using a lot of processing power when in a folder with images or videos

So that seems to be normal something-not-working, right? Here's where it gets strange.

    >Loads thumbnails in trash.
    >Thumbnails stay when files restored to previous location

Can anybody explain or provide a workaround for this? It drains my battery like nobody's business when I'm in folders working with pictures, I can't have any on my desktop or it'l heat up enough to cook an egg.
I'm decent with Linux, but this is confusing me, and there's nothing about it anywhere.

    try
    Code:

I made that attempt, but to no avail.
    Thank you for your input.
To be sure, I logged out then in, but to no change.

I read somewhere on some forum that using the boot-repair utility could have messed it up somehow?
Not sure how it would happen, but it could be the culprit, somehow.
